Map of press freedom

Reporters Without Borders released its annual worldwide press freedom index on 23 October. Ive made a quick Google Earth map of the data — click here to view and see screenshot below.

It shows North Korea (in 168th and last place), Turkmenistan (167th), and Eritrea (166th) to be the worst violators of press freedom. The United States, France, and Japan, also slip in this year’s rankings.

Given that RSF has data going back several years, it would not be too difficult to use Google Earth’s time series function to visualize how various countries’ performances changes over time.
